About this tool
Detects the IP address your request reaches our servers from — this is the address other public services see when you connect to them. Works for both IPv4 and IPv6, and adds approximate geolocation (city, region, country) plus the autonomous system that owns the address. We do not log or store this address.
FAQ
- Why does the IP shown here differ from what `ipconfig`, `ifconfig`, or `ip addr` reports?
- Local commands show your network interface address, which is usually a private RFC 1918 address (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x). The address you see here is your network's public egress IP — the address your home router, VPN, or carrier presents to the internet.
- Why might the IP be IPv6 instead of IPv4?
- If your ISP supports IPv6 and your client picks AAAA over A records (most modern OSes do), the connection arrives over IPv6. Some networks present IPv4 only; some present both.
- How accurate is the location?
- City-level accuracy for residential ISPs, less reliable for VPNs, mobile carriers, and cloud providers (where the registered location may be the company HQ rather than the data center).
